End The Corporate State
To all Occupiers: We have great news to share. Tuesday night (April 10) was the annual Lisle Township meeting. On the agenda to be voted on was whether to have the following question put on the November 6th 2012 ballot for all Lisle Township voters: “Should the United States Constitution be amended to clearly state that only individual persons, and not corporations, associations, or any other organizational entities are entitled to the rights enumerated in the constitution?”
It passed. This was a huge victory for Occupynaperville. The only reason why this was on the agenda tonight was because of Occupynaperville. A special thanks needs to go out to Nate Pietsch, Steve Aleach, Judy Bloom, and Paul Sjordal. To all Lisle Township voters, remember when you go to the voting polls in November and you see this question on the ballot, it’s because of the work done by Occupynaperville.
This is only the first part. Part two is to get the message out to the voters on why they need to vote yes. PEOPLE UNITED WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED. In a Democracy the People Rule!
It was exhilarating. We need to thank the Lisle Democrats who worked for over a week contacting members by phone and by email to attend this meeting. Three of the speakers and the elected moderator, Anna Banks Simeon, were from that group. Also the Green Party members who attended. The man sitting in front of me was a Republican who said he is tired of the money in politics and he voted for putting this question on the ballot.
I found the Move to Amend power point Steve presented at one of the Occupy Naperville GA’s especially persuasive by exposing the history of the corporation in the U.S. and the attitude the founders had about corporations. I’m wondering if there is a way to use that for some education to the voters. Any ideas?
See you Saturday. Judy Bloom
